Adventure Guide Training (Cost: $1350 + tax):
Halifax's foremost sea kayak/hiking guide training program in cooperation with Dalplex, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Most paddlers recognize Sea Sun's Adventure Team as some of the most experienced and capable instructors in the industry.
For the last 13 years, Sea Sun, led by Rob Girard and John Hartling, has been running incident free, high quality, Paddle Canada certified, safe, and enjoyable guide training.
We encourage students to shop around. Our program can't be beat! Really!

Sea Sun Kayak is giving a small group of youth at risk (16 - 24 years old) an opportunity not only to participate in an exciting outdoor leadership program but become the leader! The purpose of this program is to develop a youth’s leadership, outdoor, and guiding skills to a point where they will be employable as assistant outdoor guides.
Workshops and Activities: Backcountry & Outdoor leadership, Paddle Canada level 1 certification, Ocean Kayaking introduction to level 2 Paddle Canada Skills, VHF Marine Restricted Operators License, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, Nova Scotia Leadership Development Program (NSOLD) Outdoor Survival Program, Advanced Ocean Rescues, Hypothermia & Outdoor Rescues, Navigation, Group Camping, Group Dynamics, Employment in the outdoor industry, and Customer Service.
Participant skills will develop to a point where they would be considered employable in the growing adventure tourism industry. A key to success will be the job shadowing opportunities with our company and many others around the Maritimes.
Sea Sun Kayak has been training guides for the past 12 years and graduates have gone on to work at numerous outdoor related jobs. They can be found employed in the adventure tourism industry around the globe. The deadline for youth to apply for the program is March 21st and the tentative start date is March 30th.
