No paddling experience is necessary on our guided tours although enthusiasm, a sense of humour, energy, and a moderate level of fitness all help.
We have proper single and tandem (double) sea kayaks with rudders, storage compartments, and cockpits where spray decks are used. On most tours we depart from and return to Shining Waters Marine in Tantallon, Nova Scotia. Other options are available by special request. We offer trips for all timetables. Whether you barely want to get your feet wet or are ready for a few nights of wilderness camping, we have a tour for you.
Guided kayak tours are suitable for:
- People who have never kayaked before
- Groups with limited kayaking skills
- People travelling on their own
- Experienced kayakers wanting to take advantage of a guide's knowledge of the area and of paddling and camping conditions
Our guided groups are small and friendly with a ratio of one guide to a maximum of six clients. Weather conditions are fairly consistent in the summer months but can change and may mean that tour routes have to be modified. Water temperature in the summer months is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Bring your snorkeling gear along to explore some of the wonderful reefs around the islands of Saint Margaret’s Bay.
