Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Program

The Paddle Canada Sea Kayak program includes nationally recognized certifications in five skill levels. Certifications are earned during participation in courses and through a process of mentorship.The skill levels begin with an introduction to sea kayaking and follow through to development of the skills and knowledge necessary for safe sea kayak touring along Canada's magnificent open sea coasts and freshwater shorelines.

Sea Sun Kayak offers a wide range of Paddle Canada courses and hosts instructors from all across the Maritimes.  We offer the Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking course described below on a regular basis throughout the summer and upon request will set up skill level courses.

The Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking course is designed to introduce the novice or relatively inexperienced kayaker to paddling. The emphasis is on mastering the fundamentals of kayaking, along with a strong grounding in water safety and safe kayaking practices. Participants may paddle either a river kayak or sea kayak for this course. Anyone who owns a sea kayak should take this course!
